Ep 42- Rohan Browning – Speed to Burn
Friday Aug 23, 2019
Friday Aug 23, 2019
Paul Hadfield interviews Rohan, who at the tender age of 21 just became Australia’s 3rd fastest runner of all time with a blistering 10:08 in the 100m.
Rohan is a semi finalist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast and is off to compete at the World Championships in Doha later this year. He is coached by 3 time Olympic triple jumper Andrew Murphy.
We chat about what it takes to be a top international sprinter and break the mythical 10 second barrier. We break down Rohan’s impressive training routine and discuss the components that make him so damn fast.
Rohan opens up on the topic of drugs in sport and gives us an insight to the psychology of a top level athlete. He also covers the ‘big’ issues like, popping the bonnet in training, chicken nuggets in competition and how much beetroot juice is too much!

Ep 41- Chris Truscott- Marathon Man
Thursday Aug 15, 2019
Thursday Aug 15, 2019
Matt is joined with Co Host Paul Hadfield to interview Chris Truscott.
Running & racing is a way of life for Chris and his wife Greta who run the family friendly Rejoov Runners from Sydney’s Centennial Park.
Chris has a long affinity with many of Sydney's iconic running events. He first completed Sydney's City to Surf when he was just 9 years old, running 63mins. In 1987 at the age of 13, he ran 53mins and he has competed in every single City to Surf since (over 30 of them) with a PB of 45:44, he has run 25 consecutively under 49mins!
Chris's first marathon was the 1993 Melbourne race. We're not sure why he was so keen to start running marathons at the age of 18, but he loved it and was happy to finish in a 3:13.26.
Chris has gone on to compete in over 30 marathons including Berlin, Chicago, Rotterdam, London, Tokyo, New York and local ones - Sydney, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Melbourne & Canberra with a PB of 2:29:44 coming in 2002 in one of his four Berlin finishes. All his subsequent marathon times since debut have been under 3hrs.
Chris has managed to maintain his longevity with running via a balanced approach to life and to the sport.
At 45yrs, he continues to compete across a wide spectrum of events. Whether it's a 5000m track time trial, 10km road race, half marathon or marathon, or a 100km trail or road race.
I hope you enjoy this very informative, light-hearted interview.

Ep 39- Katie Visco and Henley Phillips are running and riding across Australia.
Wednesday Jul 31, 2019
Wednesday Jul 31, 2019
The Outback is a large expanse of rough, barren desert that can cause serious problems when exposed day after day to shadeless, intense heat. With a July 2019 start date, we're taking advantage of the cooler, drier months to make the crossing, avoiding extreme temperatures and washed-out roads.
While there is a more direct route connecting Darwin to Adelaide via the Stuart Highway, we've chosen to avoid the more trafficked paved routes in favor of dirt roads. This approach keeps us away from potential dangers like increased traffic, while also introducing the logistical difficulty of scant resupply options and many hundreds of miles without services. More intriguing, yes. More difficult, most definitely.
It's worth noting that we - Katie and Henley - are in no way professionals. Professional goofballs, that's about it! We're just audacious dreamers with a healthy dose of optimism that things will work out and a desire to push ourselves. That said, we are experienced outdoors-people with several thousand miles of solo and tandem travel of this nature, and we have inspired heads on our shoulders. We understand the risks of the project and are responsible and intelligent enough to figure it all out with passion and humility.
If you want to track Katie and Henley’s current trip across Australia, check out their website and Garmin live tracker at katievisco.com
They would love you to send them a message!
I hope you enjoy this adventurous, light-hearted interview.

Friday Jul 26, 2019
Pat Farmer, best known as the only man who has run continuously from the North Pole to the South Pole, is a multiple world record holder for endurance running. 1993 - A virtually unknown Pat Farmer secured second place in his first attempt at the Trans-America Road Race - 4719km from Huntington Beach, California to New York, 80km per day for 64 days.

Ep 35- Rory Darkins- Mental Skills Coach
Thursday Jul 04, 2019
Thursday Jul 04, 2019
The brain limits our endurance capacity before our body needs to physically slow down, essentially the brain is wired to keep us safe, this consequently limits our potential.
Rory shares psychological skills you can train and develop into your daily routine to improve your overall performance. He explains how the brain perceives effort as a threat and identifies how we should change this perception into a challenge so we can embrace it and move toward it.
He talks about finding the ‘flow state’, the optimal state a person can be in when competing.
Rory explains how breathing practices can help manage performance anxiety pre-event.
He talks about managing the ‘inner critic’, the voice in our head that gives us negative feedback. He explains the benefits of reassurance prior to events with self talk such as; why am I hear, what have I got to lose? He explains how to ground yourself in the situation during a race and do a self-check to realise you are not feeling as bad as you think you are.
Haddy uses his wealth of experience managing the fragile minds of the NORG team to get some valuable advice from Rory, while Wolfie keeps Rory on his toes with his multiple personality disorder.
